Summer Medical School

Kirov State Medical Academy offers foreign students its Summer Medical School .

This school is intended for a wide range of medical students who want to learn more about Russia , Russian medicine, culture and language.

The aim of the course is to give experience in diagnostics and practical work with patients, give general information about treatment methods in such fields of medicine as therapeutics, neurology and functional diagnostics, show national peculiarities in treatment of corresponding diseases, familiarize with history and culture of Russian province.

In the course of Summer Medical School students will get acquainted with the work of:

• laboratory of the sleep;
• department of functional diagnostics (ultrasonic diagnostics, radiodiagnosis etc.);
• department of physiotherapy;
• departments of therapy and neurology (patient examination).

Clinical basis for the course is the clinic of Kirov State Medical Academy. This clinic has been functioning since 1995 and it comprises therapeutic, neurological and outpatient clinical laboratory departments for 100 beds altogether. The clinic is situated not far from the city centre and is easy to get to.

Cultural program will include excursions all over the city of Kirov and its surroundings, visit of churches, cathedrals, museums and various recreation areas.

The city of Kirov is situated in the north-eastern European part of Russia and is a mid-size city with rich history. Having appeared in the 14 century, the city has preserved many typical traits of old Russian provincial cities. Kirov is also famous for its folk arts and cultural sights.
